Yield & Serving Suggestions
This recipe makes a generous bowl that serves about 4 people as a snack or 2 as a hearty side. Guacamole is famously versatile — it pairs beautifully with corn chips or fresh veggie sticks, spreads perfectly on toast for a quick breakfast, tops a rice bowl or baked sweet potato, dresses up a wrap or a burrito bowl, and lifts a plate of vegan nachos to another level.
Variations to Try
- Roasted garlic guac — mash in one or two cloves of roasted garlic for a mellow, sweeter depth of flavour.
- Smoky chipotle — add a pinch of smoked paprika or a small spoon of chipotle in adobo for a warm, smoky kick.
- Mango guac — fold in half a diced ripe mango for a bright, slightly sweet twist that works beautifully on tacos.
- Extra-creamy — mash in a spoonful of tahini or vegan Greek-style yogurt for a silkier texture.
- Herb-forward — swap half the cilantro for fresh basil or parsley if cilantro isn't your favourite.
Storage Tips
Guacamole is best eaten fresh, but if you have leftovers, transfer them to an airtight container, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guac (this stops oxygen from browning it), then seal the lid on top. Stored this way in the fridge, it stays vibrant and green for up to 2 days. Give it a quick stir and a fresh squeeze of lime before serving again. Freezing is not recommended — the texture turns watery on defrost.
